As a creative perfumer, is it difficult to create an iconic fragrance by Narciso Rodriguez?
Of course it was a challenge, but I love challenges, and it was a great honor to be chosen to write these new fragrant chapters.
Tell us about your journey with Narciso Rodriguez to create Musc Noir Rose.
I find Mr. Narciso Rodriguez to be a creative, inspiring artist with a unique vision in the world of fashion. He is a sensitive artist who elevates women and presents them with timeless silhouettes that never change their essence. I find silhouettes that are very innovative, very modern, yet true to the woman. When you wear a Narciso Rodriguez dress, you preserve and express yourself and your personality in a simple yet elegant way. I love the lines of his dresses that elegantly incorporate the essentials to complete a woman's look.
For perfumes, I follow the same principle. I try to write fragrances that elevate women and highlight their beauty without altering or compromising their essence. Although it may seem simple, it is actually the most difficult task for a perfumer! Developing the idea and knowledge of the skin and its distinctive freshness while using as much musk as possible is the dream of every perfumer. However, the real challenge remains technical. The aromatic scents of all types of musk are very good, but the challenge is in making the musk stand out and transcend, and making its effect more fragrant and diffused. I then imagine this musk to be like the scent of a fragrant flower, which helps me build and create a three-dimensional musk that is both sublime and deeply mysterious.
What inspiration did Narciso Rodriguez provide?
The inspiration behind this creation is a black light with aromatic tones that reveals a mysterious, sensual skin filled with musk.
What key elements of the original For Her Musc Noir fragrance did you want to keep? And what new fragrance elements did you add?
Although it still contains leather, peach, and cedarwood, Musc Noir Rose is more floral and less woody. There's more vanilla, while the leather scent is less present. Top notes of pink pepper and bergamot add a real flare to the fragrance.
